Update:
For clarity, this will be £30 on top of the YGRC annual rates.
There's been discussion among the committee and Bob Jefferies wrote to the CPGA:
"Yealm Gig Rowing Club, which has an annual subscription of £60, a few competitive crews and large social membership, including our much-loved retired large Kitley Belles and Veterans section. There is a lot of sympathy for the trustees and committee having the support of a paid administrator/secretary. Employing a Chief Executive and secretariat would result in a 50% hike in our annual subscription and a ten-fold increase in our contribution to the CPGA. Some members thought that the external consultation process had resulted in a business plan suited to a professional or Olympic sport and that we value belonging to an amateur social minority sport with a keen competitive edge.
Rather than have a binary choice between yes or no to the business plan at the EGM, we would appreciate the option to vote for the employment of a paid administrator initially, funded from a levy per competitor per CPGA event. It might require about £5 per competitor for each regatta. This could be framed as a three-way vote or as a separate amendment. Could you please put that suggestion to the CPGA Committee?"
