YEALM GIG ROWING CLUB DEVELOPMENT PLAN
Proposal Aim:
Timing is everything, especially in rowing. The gig club is thriving with a burgeoning youth squad. Post pandemic, there is more realisation than ever of the physical and mental benefits of sport and exercise. It is rare for non-residential land to become available for sale around the heart of our villages.
And so with club growth, the perfect location, timing could not be more perfect for Yealm Gig Rowing Club to purchase and develop a plot of land located on the corner of Noss Hard and Passage Road (https://goo.gl/maps/czMkwusVsJLWRLTF9). It is due to go on the market soon via Marchand Petit and likely interest will be for private parking or garages.
The land is estimated to be 60ft at its widest and 30ft long according to the estate agent. The plot may be small in area but would be a huge asset for the community offering so much more than a parking space.
Our vision is to preserve this land for community and club use. We look to the community for support of this venture which will provide:
- A community exercise space
- Rowing machines for team training and individual use
- Other exercise equipment including weights
- Open for individuals, clubs and personal trainers
- Dry storage for Yealm Gig Rowing Club assets
- Dry storage for River Yealm Regatta assets
- A building sympathetic to the character of the village
We want to hear your views and garner your support.
Come and talk to members of the club and committee at Newton and Noss Village Hall on Saturday the 1st of April after the morning market 4- 5pm.
